Going With The Flow

I feel like I need to explain the amount of moving preparation I have done so far, which isn’t much.

Considering it’s to be my new home for a while, I know very little about Hong Kong. I knew even less when I originally agreed to go and I am very much going with the flow right now.

I have basic expectations. Its probably going to get quite hot, there’s going to be a lot of people, there may be a few monkeys etc. But I’m trying not set myself up with expectations that could be crushed. I would rather have the ‘anything can happen’ attitude than be disappointed when what I thought would happen, didn’t.

This means that I don’t know, for example, what the Chinese eat for breakfast. But even if it’s tofu on toast I won’t be surprised or disheartened. It also means that I’ll have very little to say about the Chinese lifestyle until I actually get there. Potentially this isn’t the best way to be approaching the situation, but, to me at least, it’s the only way that makes sense.

Hopefully this isn’t a horrible idea and if there is anyone reading this in order to to help decide where you want to travel for a semester, or what its like living and studying in Hong Kong, you’ll find out weather going blind(ish) is a good idea or not. And I’ll be able to eventually help if you do need some hindsight!
