I am a PhD student in the Centre for Innovative Ageing within the College of Human and Health Sciences. I hope this blog is insightful and gives you some tips and information about what it is like to be a student living in Swansea.
I hope the exam season was not too stressful and that you all get the grades that you want or need. It is important to make sure that you unwind (even if it is just for a day or so) so that you can be refreshed and raring to go for your upcoming lectures and workshops.
Even though it is cold, maybe go for a walk along the bay. The clear, dry weather offers some stunning views and we might as well make the most of it while we can!
Also, as a treat and reward for all the hard work you have put in during the exam process why not treat yourself to a ticket to the upcoming Welsh Varsity which is taking place in Cardiff this year. This is the biggest university sporting event of the year and will encompass many sports. You may know potential competitors so it is important to show your support.
In total it is thought that arounf 15,000 students will be supporting and spectating over 30 sports as they compete for the Varsity Shield. This year there will be a first – for the first time in the history of the Welsh Varsity, Women’s Rugby will be joining the battle for The Shield in the prestigious Principality Stadium. The day will then culminate with the Men’s Rugby Union match. This promises to be fiery fight for the Welsh Varsity Cup and for university pride!
Last year there was record sales and many of the packages offered were sold out. So to ensure that you do not miss out, make sure you secure your place at Sport Swansea’s biggest social event of the year.
On Thursday, February 2nd 10am – 12pm there will be a one day sale were you will be able to purchase your exclusive Varsity package online from www.swanseasu.nutickets.com/varsity2017.
The Varsity package includes:
As a package deal you can get all of the above for just £25 but if you are already a Sport Swansea member on the one day sale day you can have access to the tickets for £22.50. This package is great value and Varsity always promises to be a fun and exciting day full of sporting competition.
