What to do next? My guide to results and clearing!
Hi there! we all know the time for results is nearing, you all must be quite stressed out on what happens next. For some of you this may be the first time, and for some you may have been through this before, however results time can be stressful for all.
Since I have been through this once, i shall try my best to help you out on what to do next.
As soon as you get your results you need to log in to your UCAS page, and see whether you have been accepted by your firm choices of universities. If you have been then congratulations on securing your place, wait for your CAS statement and any other procedures you may be required to follow as directed by your university.
If you are an international student and are required to apply for a Tier 4 visa, then be quick, have all other documents ready and as soon as you get your CAS statement apply for your visas. (My own experience, read all emails from universities properly, as i was required to pay a small deposit in order for me to get my CAS statement, and deposits take long to clear, so be quick!) Pack your bags and be on your way to university!
However, if you do not meet the required criteria for the university of your choice then take a deep breathe in and don’t panic! There is another option where you can still make it to university in September with the rest of the class, it’s called clearing.
In order to do this, all you got to do is log in to your UCAS account, and follow the instructions as per the email you receive. All clearing vacancies will be listed on the UCAS site, as well as you can search for your given choice. This is where, you can either change your mid completely about your course subject and university choice as opposed to your original plan. you have the freedom to chose whatever you wish.
What you need to do next is, pick up the phone and call the universities you are interested in and ask if they will reconsider, or what your other options are. Keep your clearing number and personal ID ready. List down all the offers you are given, and then make up your mind on which one suits you best!
Don’t be nervous! You have got time to get through clearing, although, the quicker you act the better it is, as vacancies for clearing change every moment. Once, you have accepted a University, and have received your confirmation letter, all you have to do is start packing, and thinking about making your way to university.
