As I finish week two of being in this wonderful country, I wonder what I can talk about (expect for more fawning over how beautiful it is and how much I love it, I could do that all day)…


So, I’m going to talk about poutine – AKA, Canada’s jewel-crowned and national dish. I’m just going to pretend that I didn’t do this because I had this dish today and fell completely in love with it. Nope. Not at all.

Born and bred in Québec, the dish is made out of thicker cut fries, topped with cheese curds and brown gravy. However, do NOT refer to the dish as just ‘cheesy chips with gravy’. There’s a particular way poutine is done, therefore making it more traditional and sophisticated than what you grab after a messy Wind St night (not saying that cheesy chips with gravy isn’t still the superior after-alcohol food)!


These gems are usually found in fast food diner places instead of restaurants, and are usually main dishes (although if you’re feeling willing you can also use it as a side). From my experience today, I would definitely stick it out as a main dish, because I was bursting full afterwards!


This is quite a short blog post admittedly, but i just had to share my love for the best dish I’ve ever had (sorry, lasagna).
