Update and information about Swansea University

Hello everyone,

Apologies for not posting last week, I have been extremely busy and have found it hard to post, but I am hoping to rectify that from now on. This post will be a bit shorter but will give some integral news about Swansea University.

The first thing that I wanted to write about is the fantastic news that Swansea are in the top 15 for Student Satisfaction. According to the latest National Student Survey (NSS) Swansea University has been ranked at number 14th in the UK for student satisfaction. Students from Swansea rated their overall satisfaction with the University at 90%, which is higher than the 86% Wales and UK overall figures.

Within the 42 subject areas in the survey, 13 of them were in the top 10 for overall satisfaction. Additionally five of these were 1st in their category including Osteopathy, Media Studies, Zoology, French and Materials Engineering, in addition to having four others in the top five which includes; Accounting, Spanish, Environmental Science, Welsh and Physical Geography.

Professor Martin Stringer Pro-Vice Chancellor said: “While we are delighted that the overall satisfaction levels remains very good compared to other Universities in Wales and in the UK, there are some areas to be addressed. We will be looking carefully at the issues behind the figures and will work together to seek significant improvements over the coming year.”

So well done Swansea but there are things to look improve upon.

Additionally, the Santander branch on the Bay Campus is now open. It is located next to Tescos under the student accommodation.

This branch will offer a wide variety of services and products to the university community and the local neighbourhood as well as having a cash machine for students, staff and visitors to use.

This is part of an on-going partnership between Swansea University and Santander. Since joining the Santander Universities’ Network in 2014, Swansea University staff and students have been able to take advantage of a number of travel grants and scholarships that facilitate and enable mobility and engagement with institutions around the world. The partnership has also provided support for student start-ups and an internship scheme which provides placements for students with local small and medium sized companies.
