Hong Kong
I MADE IT!
Hong Kong is absolutely amazing! My roommate can’t believe I would actually choose to come here, she says theres nothing to do. However, as a girl from a small town just outside the valleys, I can tell you that there is SO much to do and see!
The 14 hour flight wasn’t anywhere near as awful as I was expecting – we travelled in the night so I spent most of my time sleeping. However Air China put my luggage on a plane due to arrive four hours after myself, and Hong Kong immigration messed up my visa, so my first night in Hong Kong wasn’t as enjoyable as it could have been. But, after borrowing a towel and sleeping in my underwear, my case eventually arrived at my hostel the next afternoon and fixing my visa turned out to be one of the best experiences I’ve had whilst Ive been here. So pros and cons I guess.
My first impressions:
- Chinese food is nothing like Chinese food back home.
- The stereotype that Asians aren’t big on going to clubs, which most people believe in Swansea, is completely false and Hong Kong has some of the best nightlife I have ever experienced.
- Having a roommate is weird, but not bad.
- The local students are some of the most friendly and helpful people I have met in my life and all the international students are lovely.
If my first week is anything to go by, I honestly cannot wait for all the amazing experiences that are to come!
Update: The nightlife mainly consist of foreigners and most students don’t like drinking at all.
