Ways you can avoid Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day can be described by single people as overrated, useless, and a waste of money – and you’re absolutely right. Yes, even me, a person in a 2 and a half year loving relationship, agrees with you single people wholesomely.

However, that’s not to say that you can’t still celebrate Valentine’s day in your own way. Recently there has been an influx of anti-couple ways to celebrate Valentine’s day (i.e. Galentine’s day) so that you and your gal pals can celebrate one another and not just be upset that you don’t have partners just yet.

Other ways you can avoid love in the air include:

1.  Don’t go outside on February 14th. Or if you have to, any couple-like cohorts that you see should be avoided at all costs.

2. Treat your friends or family to a meal. Simply just spending the day with them (or yourself) can help you forget about how everybody over glorifies this one day, when in actuality you should be treating your partner every day (cliché, I know).

3. Wait for 15th February, when all Valentine’s day chocolate (among other gifts) are on sale. Revel in the cheap buys and treat yourself.

4. Try to scroll past soppy posts on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram as fast as you possibly can. You don’t need that in your life.

5. Focus on the fact that you have lectures on that day anyway. In hindsight, most couples probably won’t show up to uni that day (they’re too busy being engrossed in one another), so you may see less around campus(?)!

Have a great week. And to all you single folk, good luck. x
