Hello everyone,

As January rolls on and the festive period becomes an ever-fading memory it is time to ahead to events that will be taking place.

The big news that you may have seen on social media is that the Welsh Varsity will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary in Swansea.

Varsity 2016 will take place on the 20th April 2016 in Swansea; this year marks the 20th year in which sports teams from Cardiff University and Swansea University compete for sporting and Varsity success.

If you have not heard of Varsity before, it is a festival of sport, including 900 students competing in over 35 competitions which take place over 23 sports. Swansea University and the Liberty Stadium will play host to the tournament which will take place between Saturday 16th to Wednesday 20th April. Fixtures will commence from 10.00 on the 20th with more than 30 competitions taking place on and around Swansea’s campuses. The tournament culminates on the evening of the 20th April with the showcase of the Men’s rugby at the Liberty Stadium which is also the home of Swansea City and the Ospreys.

It is a great time to show your support to friends and colleagues representing Swansea. The tournament begins with the rowing event on Saturday 16th April which includes the Men’s and Women’s Novice and Senior squads taking to the River Tawe to battle for Varsity honour.

A single ticket will give you access to all events and will go on sale on Thursday 28th January.

Tickets give you access to all sporting fixtures throughout the tournament, you will also get an official supporters t-shirt and access to the official after party in Walkabout.

Tickets are priced at £25.00 (full package) and £22.50 for Sports Swansea members. Tickets are available at http://swanseasu.nutickets.com/varsity2016.
